World of Hate

Posted in Uncategorized on May 15th, 2007 by brandon – 3 Comments

I’m concerned with how much hate is in the world today.

Jerry Falwell died today and comments that I have heard or read have been very hateful. While I didn’t necessarily agree with some of his political views, I did not hate him. I don’t understand how a person’s political views can dictate how you interact or even think about them.

While this focuses on the bad stuff I’ve read, there are those who care about him and I acknowledge them. The thing that I wonder is about how we see people. How can people have such strong animosity towards a person based on their political views? I know that I’m guilty of this and I do need to work on this. I guess my question is where does compassion end? What is the breaking point for a person? What causes a person to hate any “religious extreme”?

I would love to read any other thoughts on this.

Normality has been restored

Its as if someone activated the Infinite improbability drive and normality is being restored.

As some of you know, I moved a couple weeks ago.  I now live with the person I am going to marry in the not too distant future.  We’ve pretty much gotten moved in except for one room full of boxes.  It also doesn’t appear that they will get unpacked any time soon (the next few weeks that is).

Work is BUSY!!!  We have a long couple weeks ahead of us and lots of overtime scheduled so we can make the release date on June 1.  I love the stuff we are doing though.  I’m learning a lot about Flex and working with Flex Data Services is REALLY cool!  I’m hoping to get a JMS queue working between the java and flex parts of the application.

Other that all the moving, life is getting back to "normal" and I’m loving every minute of it so far!  I’m excited for the next few months and see what God has in store and all I need to remember is to slow down and notice it.

Contribute

Ok, I just installed the trial version of Adobe Contribute CS3.  I can now add and edit posts from my computer as well as edit the layout (when I get Dreamweaver).  Since this is the trial, I have 30 days to use it; but I have some software going to be shipped to me soon.  That software has Contribute CS3 in it.  I can’t wait!!!!

I can’t believe how well this works and I’ll be working with this software and seeing how powerful it is for editing my site.

I would suggest the trial version to anyone and the software itself isn’t that expensive.  For those students who read this, academic pricing is quite nice.

New and Improved

Ok, I now have the latest version of Wordpress on my site and all my old posts back! I love this new VPS I am using for my web host. There is a very powerful management system called Plesk that lets me manage anything I would need to (except Tomcat, but I need to learn it command line first). I also have multiple sub domains that I will be using for experimental stuff. I’m hoping to get a Flex app up and running soon (once I get a Flex builder license).
